Royal and Morgan arcades

Rebrand and website

The arrival of the Royal and Morgan arcades during the Nineteenth century transformed the shopping experience in Cardiff, which up until that point had been based around market stalls. To increase the marketing visibility of the arcades after the opening of new store John Lewis and St David’s 2 shopping centre, PGA was commissioned to create a new destination brand identity. The client wanted to develop a new image, to reflect the individuality of the arcades whilst keeping with its unique Edwardian architecture.

Existing logos for the arcades were redesigned with a fresh look and new colour-ways. New store directories were created to highlight the quality of shopping experience that the arcades could offer, as well as flyers promoting a Christmas event and a website. Photographer Andrew Molyneux was commissioned to shoot a series of new pictures of the arcades for print and web, showing the opportunities for retailers.

The client was very pleased with the new brand identity, feeling it reflected the individuality of what each arcade has to offer. The new photography library offers the client a unique service, enabling them to use the images independently on future marketing materials as well as their website.
